POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant General Manager is responsible for one or more departments and as a back-up to the General Manager, for the overall operation of a full service restaurant with revenues of $2 million to $4 million annually. In addition to running their department(s), this person assists the GM to coordinate the food service activities of the restaurant with a heavy emphasis on quality, value, customer service and sanitation. Assists with controlling food and beverage costs and maintaining inventory at optimum levels. Works closely with food preparation, counter and dining room staffs to ensure smooth operation between the various departments within the store. Assists with hiring, staffing, training and development, scheduling, communication, motivation, appraisal and termination of personnel. Investigates and resolves food quality and service complaints. Will be involved in developing and executing marketing programs and promotional campaigns to increase business. Become familiar with P&L responsibility including the review of financial transactions and cost control measures, including staffing and purchasing to ensure the operation is run at optimum efficiency.

POSITION REPORTS TO:
The Store General Manager

PREREQUISITES:
Education: Two (2) year associate’s degree or a bachelor’s degree in business or restaurant management from a four (4) year college desirable. Some culinary training a plus.

Experience: Minimum of 4 years responsibility for a department in a full service restaurant with annual revenues of $2 million or more or complete responsibility for a restaurant dong less than $2 million. Candidates with a background that includes management experience and training with a large chain operation highly desirable. Working knowledge of computers also desirable.

Physical: Must have the stamina to work 60 hours or more a week with a 6 day work week. Must be able to exert well-paced mobility for periods of up to 5 hours in length. Must have the ability to lift 20 to 30 pounds frequently and be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
