Turn Back Time and Best All-Around Matzah Ball Awards

Eight South Florida restaurants threw their matzah balls in the ring at Forest Trace, a Lauderhill retirement community, for the chance to win the title of "Best All Around Matzah Ball" and $500 to the charity of their choice in the third annual Golden Matzah Bow. This pre-Passover bout packed quite a punch with the 150 residents and guests that attended. Ben's Kosher Deli schored a unanimous decision with the judges by winning "Best All-Around Matzah Ball" and donated $500 to Jewish Community Services of South Florida. READ MORE...

Ben's Delicatessen Owner Reflects On 40 Years

(Long Island, NY) In 1972, Ronnie Dragoon returned to his native Long Island from Indiana to open a delicatessen in Baldwin Harbor. He called it Ben's Kosher Delicatessen Restaurant, which he named after his father. Forty years later, the restaurant has expanded with six locations: three in Nassau County, one in Queens, one in Manhattan and one in Florida. It offers freshly prepared food that is courteously served in a clean, well-maintained restaurant while faithfully observing Kosher dietary laws. READ MORE...

Great Balls of Matzah: Local Matzah Ball Contest Heats Up The Kitchen

In anticipation of the Jewish holiday Passover, Forest Trace, theLauderhill resort retirement community, hosted the third annual "Golden Matzah Bowl," a three-part competition, featuring eight South Florida restaurateurs as well as the "Best Matzah Ball Mix from the Box" and "Best Homemade Recipe" contests. Participation in the contest was free, though all attendees were asked to donate a box of matzah ball mix to WECARE, the Broward food pantry. READ MORE...
