Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
We have "deli" in our name and in our hearts. Customers look to you, our deli clerk, as that special someone who greets them with a smile and prepares their takeout order quickly and correctly. You will record their order on a touch screen computer or look to the screen for the order sent from the cashier or waitstaff. You will weigh and package cold items, make sandwiches, prepare salad plates, assemble catering packages, all while listening to customers talk or add to their orders. You may suggest specials or tempt patrons with choice items on display. And, of course, the counter area must be kept spotlessly clean and shining. Our customers expect no less!
Education: A high school diploma is desirable. An ability to read, write, speak and understand English fluently is required. You must be able to add, subtract and multiply.
Experience: Experience in a high volume counter operation is desirable, but not required. We would love you to have some customer service experience.
Temperament: A people person with a good sense of humor who is comfortable talking to guests. You must be able to maintain a friendly composure under pressure and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. Of course, you must work well with coworkers in all departments.
Physical Demands: You must be able to move about easily behind a busy deli counter plus be able to reach up and bend down to get stored items in the work area. You must be able to handle a very fast paced environment for hours at a time. From time to time, bulk supplies and catering packages weighing 25 to 50 pounds must be moved.
